Valentine’s Day is coming and if you are like a lot of couples you are probably wondering what to do. Luckily there are many good romantic ideas out there.
You could go away on a quick romantic getaway. There are often many last minute travel specials that you can take for a long weekend. These are especially attractive if the destinations are in warm weather and you are like us and have been stuck in a very cold and snowy home base. A few of these last minute specials can be found in the link below.
You could go out to a romantic restaurant for dinner. Many nice restaurants with romantic atmospheres have dinners with special menus for the occasion. This can be a nice idea if your favorite restaurant offers something unusual. However, we have found that many of these special dinners can be a bit pricey and if the restaurant serves a prix fixe menu and you don’t like the food options, you may be out of luck.
Many of our Valentine’s Day celebrations have been in our home. We scour our cookbooks and the Food Channel to find something that would be suitable for a romantic dinner. We have had a in-house fondue, a nice steak dinner, or whatever we have been craving. We pull out the candles and make up the table nicely, just like they would at one of those romantic restaurants that we mentioned above. We usually add in a nice dessert to share to top off our menu. After dinner, we watch a romantic comedy, play a game based on romantic topics, or just sit and talk. I will leave what we do at the end of the night to your imagination!
Here are links to some cookbooks and games that we recommend for a terrific Valentine’s Day celebration.
